laboratory information

The GIS Services manages the Geospatial Lab (now called Geoscience) that houses 27 computer workstations running various geospatial and other software packages installed on them. In addition to the Geospatial lab, computers in the following geospatial applications:  Qgis, ArcGIS and Erads Imagine installed on them. To use any of the lab computers:

You must be a student, faculty, or staff of Dr. Kanailal Bhattacharyya College with a valid ID. A login is required to access all applications on the computers.

You must have a personal storage device, e.g., external hard drive, portable hard drive, flash drive, etc. to store/save all projects. All user data remaining on the workstations are automatically deleted after logging off.

No food or drinking; It is permitted to stay in the laboratory both covered and uncovered. NO EXCEPTIONS. Violators may be banned from eating and drinking, and in some cases may be asked to leave the lab.

Lab Location:   The GIS Lab is located on the 4th floor.

Lab Hours:  The lab is currently open for individual assignments and research at the following times

Monday to Saturday:  10:00 am - 05:00 pm

Laboratory Guidelines:  The policies of the GIS Laboratory are identical to those of the Central Library, apart from the three policies mentioned above. Normally, the lab is open to all forms of research and academic work, but where space is at a premium, preference is given to funders who require a geospatial application for their project.
